Have you seen that viral photo of a cement house being built without any posts at all? Architects and engineers do not recommend that at all. We wouldn't want to be in that house when an earthquake strikes, even a minor one. Posts are needed for a stable foundation. They make things secure and long-lasting for an eventuality. This reminds me of the parable of the two builders shared by Jesus.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” (Mt. 7:24-27, NIV)

What words were Jesus referring to? The WORD OF LIFE.

We can hear His teachings but if we do not apply them in our lives, we won't be able to withstand the onslaught of illness, loss of relationships, death of loved ones, loss of job, inflation, etc. We establish foundation by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. With Him as our solid foundation, we are promised His strength to overcome trials. We may be battered and blue afterwards, but we will still be standing.
