SYDNEY W A "Y"

A New Yorker was all set to enjoy a vacation in Sydney, Australia but didn't realize he had booked himself a flight to Sidney, Montana, a city with a population of 6000.

As funny as it may seem, it's no laughing matter when it comes to thinking and believing we are headed to heaven, without making sure we have "booked" the right flight.

Good works, religion, and others praying for the repose of your soul will not do. The Bible clearly says so:

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Rom. 6:23 ESV)

"...he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy" (Titus 3:5 ESV)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Eph. 2:8-9 ESV)

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" (John 14:6 ESV)

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12 ESV)

“Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Rom. 10:9 ESV)

The New Yorker was sincere in thinking that he was going to down under. He did what he thought was right. He ignored the red flags like seeing only nine passengers on the plane, the size of the aircraft, and the cheap fare.

We may be sincere in thinking that we are going to heaven. We may do all that we think is needed to be done. We can ignore admonitions such as this post thinking we know of another way other than Jesus, but in the end, we will get the shock of our after-life when we find ourselves in the worst place ever for all eternity, and it's all too late. Because the Bible also says, "Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment," Heb. 9:27 (BSB). There is no second chance once we breathe our last breath.

Only by asking for forgiveness of our sins and accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior will the Father give us entry into His heaven. Pray to receive the Son while it is still called today.
