SO MAY 2022

In two days’ time, it will be three months since the annals of history have started calling Ferdinand Romauldez Marcos Jr. the country’s 17th president but listening to one pastor, one would think it’s still May 2022.

“Mga nag-aaway-away noong eleksyon, wala na sila rito ngayon. Na-offend na.”

Question, pastor: Did you reach out to them after they left?

“Bakit wala kayong stand? Eh nakaupo ako. Ang daming na-offend sa church noon. Eh bakit di ninyo binoboto manok namin?”

Of course, no one has the right to compel anyone to vote for one’s preference but question, pastor: did you ask why they were offended?

“Si Jesus lang ang sikat dito. And I’m not going to use my platform to promote anyone. Si Jesus lang ang pinapasikat natin dito.”

Amen, pastor, but giving biblical guidelines and principles on how to choose a leader can also help pasikatin si Jesus. It’s not either-or.

“Biro mo kung nagpromote ako ng ibang kulay noon tapos nanalo (sic) ngayon, o, paano ka ngayon, pastor? Tapos ifoforce niyo kami?”

It’s not about you, pastor. It’s about seizing the opportunity to teach biblical leadership and citizenship that can be applied outside a national election.

“Bakit wala kayong stand? We’re here to honor God. That’s it. Period. We pray for our leaders but we only glorify one. That is the Name of God.”

Yes, we pray for our leaders regardless of political colors but we can also pray prior to their assumption. Sharing biblical principles is also glorifying the Name of God.

Move on, pastor. That is so 1st half of 2022. We're waiting for Jose Mari Chan.
