S/HE DESERVES IT, S/HE DESERVES IT NOT, S/HE DESERVES IT (Musings in the Time of COVID-19)

A friend of mine went to her barangay wondering why they haven’t received their relief goods and was met with a hearty laugh. “Sa mga indigent lang.”

Another friend related how only PWDs (persons with disabilities) are given in their district, not even the seniors for reasons unknown to him.

Another friend was given unsolicited advice by her next-door neighbors on what to do with her relief goods. “Dapat hindi niyo tinanggap. Dapat pamigay niyo sa mga mahihirap!”

Seems like everyone has an opinion on what to do with other people’s benefits---who deserves what, who deserves more, and who certainly doesn’t deserve anything. Coming soon after Christendom celebrated resurrection, it made me reflect on the Lord’s goodness on how His grace is for everyone and equally for everyone.

If God had been like the barangay or the neighbors, offering salvation only to those who deserve it, heaven will forever be dwelt by the Trinity and the angels alone for no one, not a single one will be found deserving of gaining permanent residence (Rom. 3:9-18), including the greatest apostle of them of all, Paul (1 Tim. 1:15). And no one will ever find fault in Him if heaven will be in eternal lockdown from us who have nothing but faults. Thank God that His thoughts are not our thoughts, His ways not our ways. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.
