We have become a cynical people that news of death is not taken as fact without uncontestable proof of a body or its remains. This is usually the reaction when notorious criminals are reported to have died (so conveniently). It's once again the reaction to the reported death of a person of interest in the latest hazing fatality.

 

The need for proof for breaking news reminds me of when Christ rose from a gruesome death that everybody knew occurred. He was seen by at least 500 witnesses, three days after his obituary. His resurrection could not be denied by his staunchest enemies that they resorted to bribing the soldiers guarding his cavernous grave.

 

His victory over death so emboldened His cowardly followers who abandoned Him when He needed them the most, that they stared death in the eye as they defied the very authorities they feared all their lives to spread the good news of the Way, the Truth, and the Life, that it has reached our shores more than two millennia later. Question is: what have we done about Jesus' offer of free gift of salvation, after being presented with all this proof that there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved?
