"ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS EVER"

The actor Brian Cox is said to have described the Bible as such. Being atheist, that's hardly surprising. It would be newsworthy if he had said, "The Bible is one of the best books ever." I wonder what are the other titles that made it on his worst list though?

Mr. Cox finds it stupid that the woman was created from a man's rib. Other than finding Genesis 2:21-22 ridiculous, he doesn't cite anything else about the Bible to make it "one of the worst books ever." It's like disbelieving a paragraph in an encyclopedia and disparaging the entire set. The Bible contains 66 books written by various authors from different continents, belonging to different periods of the 1500 years it took to be written and compiled.

Mr. Cox confuses the Bible with religion, organized or otherwise. The Bible is the Word of God; religion is, according to Brittanica,  "human beings'relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred, absolute, spiritual, divine, or worthy of reverence." And this is why religion has messed up the world. It's the work of super flawed human beings. The Bible and religion are not synonymous especially as there are religions out there that share his disbelief of  the Holy Scriptures.

Mr. Cox believes in the need for spiritual guidance for as long as it's not from the Bible. He asserts that theater is the “one true church”  as it’s the “church of humanity.”

If that is true, then a lot of people will be missing out as only a super minority is in the theater community. Also, I don't think the history of theater has been pure, worthy of worship.

The Bible is not one of the best books ever; it is the GOOD BOOK. It does not contain the Word of God but it is the LIVING WORD OF GOD. It is alive and it teaches how professing followers should live:

* obey one's parents
* love one's wife
* do not exasperate our children
* pay our taxes
* help the poor and the needy
* love our enemies
* don't play favorites with the rich and powerful
* don't be greedy
* don't be envious
* don't gossip
* always do our best
* be kind to one another
* turn the other cheek
* don't love money
* don't steal
* don't kill
* forgive one another

These are bad?

I don't know where Brian Cox is coming from but God does and He still loves him, so much that He gave His own begotten Son so that he, like you and me, may not perish but have everlasting life.
