MISQUOTED BIBLE PHRASES IN POP SONGS

It is not quite uncommon to hear people misquote some Bible verses or phrases just because they heard the same from other people and simply assumed they’re correct. But the misquotes don’t end in speeches and conversations but have also found their way in pop songs. Here are a few I culled.

Money is the Root of All Evil (The Andrew Sisters)

Money is the root of all evil
Money is the root of all evil
Won't contaminate myself with it
Take it away, take it away, take it away

Money is not the root of all evil but it is the love of money. Admittedly, few people would know this song how many times have we heard and perhaps we ourselves have misquoted 1 Timothy 6:10?

Run Samson Run (Neil Sedaka)

Oh Delilah made Sammy's life a sin
And he perished when the roof fell in

Sammy’s life consisted of nothing but one disobedience after another to God’s commandment. He was already living a life of sin even before Delilah came into the picture. Read Judges 13-21.

We are the World (USA for Africa)

As God has shown us by turning stones to bread

If God indeed had shown this to us, that would mean Satan has won because that his dare to Jesus. See Matthew 4:1-4.

Someday We’ll Know (The New Radicals)

Someday we'll know
If love can move a mountain

We will never know since it is not love but faith that can move a mountain as stated in Matthew 21:21.

Apple (Pharrell Williams)

It was Adam and Eve
And the God in the trees
And the snake, oh yeah

“The God” was not in the trees; not even the serpent. Read Genesis 3.
