MAIN CHARACTER SYNDROME
I've been seeing memes about people thinking they're the main character in a movie and everyone else belongs to the supporting cast. It's called the main character syndrome.
If we are to be honest with ourselves, all of us suffer from it while others suffer more. But the one who suffered the most consequently received the greatest death sentence in the history of pre-universe and universe was the most beautiful creature ever. I say pre-universe because he was the OG of main character syndrome even before the universe was created. His name was Lucifer but was later changed to Satan.
Isaiah 14:12-17 tell us how Lucifer was the most exquisite angel in heaven and he knew it. He didn't need a mirror to tell him who was the fairest of them all. His self-admiration (not his beauty per se) was his downfall thinking he was the main character, and not God who created him. He started a coup against His Creator with disastrous consequences. Together with a third of angels he duped, he was kicked out of heaven with a death sentence. While waiting for it to be carried out, he is out on "bail" free to dupe more souls into thinking that they are the main character. God is not even in the supporting cast as they convince themselves that:
- God does not exist;
- everyone will go to heaven if such a place exists;
- one can earn their way to heaven;
- hell does not exist or if it does, it will be one rave party with friends;
- all roads lead to heaven;
- etc.
Believing in these things gives one freedom to do as they please because believing that God is the main character will mean we need to live by His rules. This is scary for some because they regard God as the OG killjoy who only wants us to be safe from Satan's lies and eternal damnation. Satan is the OG killjoy because when we follow him, he will only lead us to the lake of fire where there is no joy, only death.
Making God the main character in our lives will be the best ROI ever. Like all investments, we need to be patient and trust the process. But more importantly, trust God who alone deserves all the glory forever and ever. Not only does He get top billing, but He gets the only billing above and below the title. Him and Him alone alone deserves the spotlight.
