JYABETIK

I was watching a YT video on cozy mysteries when one featured "Adobo and Arsenic" by Fil-Am author Mia P. Manansala. The Gen Z reviewer said she didn't like how diabetics were "misrepresented" when the Philippine-born characters opined how the murder victim probably got diabetes by eating a lot of sugar. She said not all diabetics are like that. I just had to roll my eyes.

Yes, she may be right but some diabetics get it that way.

Second, A&A is a work of fiction. It wasn't a documentary on the disease.

Third, this is a true representation of how Filipinos think of jabetik, rightly or not.

All this sanctimonious wokeness is getting wearisome. Block this channel, I clicked.

Anyway, if one wants a piece of literature where everybody is rightly represented, it is the Bible which says we are all sinners. All encompasses everyone---the straights, the gays, the morally good, the Satan successors, the rich, poor, the powerful, the bottom feeder, the famous, the forgotten, the religious, and all colors of the rainbow. As in all. Sana all? All in. All aboard the train to hell.

But everyone can have their destination rerouted to heaven by asking for forgiveness of their sins and accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If we have not done so, do it now while it is called today.

Did you know that one day, we will all bow down on our knees and declare, "Jesus is Lord!" (Phil. 2:10-11)? The difference will be is how we say it. Will it be, "Yes, Jesus is Lord!" or "Oh no, Jesus is Lord..."?
