HERE LIES TRUTH

A disappointed fan posted about his dressing room encounter with Lea Salonga who insisted on observing protocols for security purposes. The uploader griped about having to pay a steep amount to watch her show only to be turned away. "Mas malala pa kasi para kaming mga basurang pinagtabuyan sa harap ng taong andoon." The uploader then asked netizens to judge for themselves.

I wonder if he had the permission of the other fans who congregated in the restricted area when he posted the video. It was already embarrassing to be reprimanded in private but now everybody knows not only about their faux pas, but are receiving judgment for their behavior which they might have felt regretful about and would like to keep it under wraps, and perhaps learn from their mistake in peace. I have to admire Miss Small Voice-Annie-Saigon-Jasmine-Mulan for being so firm and polite throughout."Who are you? I’m so sorry. I don’t know you," she said. One woman tried name-dropping but Lea was unmoved.

This incident reminds me of Jesus' warning when we are all facing God on Judgement Day. Some of us will be like the fans thinking we have access to heaven but would get the biggest access-denied reproof that will cost our eternity.

"Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" (Matthew 7:21-23, NIV)

God the Father never knew them because they never knew Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. All they had to show was their good works but not a time where they prayed to accept His free gift of salvation. They paid a high price by performing good works, miracles even. They name-dropped but their names were still not on the heavenly security list.

If Lea's words of "I don't know you" sounded harsh, they cannot compare to the frightening reproof of God when He denies us entry into His kingdom and sends us on our original way to eternal darkness. If we have not made peace with God, take the time now to ask for forgiveness and admit that there is nothing we can do to earn our way to heaven other than the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
