HELL NINO
If there is a bright side to this flaming summer heat is that it's got some people talking about hell---the real hell, that is, and not just the hellish heat index. "Kung ganito pa lang hirap na tayo, paano pa kaya ang impyerno?"
"HAHAHA! Hell doesn't exist!" you might say but, friend, regardless of your opinion, it does. It's in the same way that I could choose not to believe that there are bad people out there but they do; some even have power over me.
Hell exists because Jesus, the Son of God, constantly warned His audience and us, the hearers of the Word. He was there when hell was created for Lucifer and his minions when they chose to rebel against the Father in heaven (Mt. 25:41). Any human who chooses to follow the same rebellious path will end up in hell. God does not send people to hell; people walk themselves to it by their own free will.
But we can reroute our original destination by asking for forgiveness of our sins and accepting Jesus as our only Lord and Savior. God the Father loves you so much that He gave His only Son to die for your sins, that if you believe in Him and Him only, you will hear that Waze rerouting sound and have everlasting life thus escaping the exponentially fiery lake of fire (2 Th 1:8-9).
P.S. You know what makes hell more terrifying? Other than the superlative temperature, we will be there all alone for all eternity with our memories of rejecting every opportunity to accept Jesus (Luke 16:19-31). Why choose to suffer forever alone in hell when you can be safe in heaven?
