HATERS GONNA HATE

Another one of those fast-becoming trite social media remarks and responses of people who find themselves, well, being hated on, because of something they said or did. The most recent on this side of the West Philippine Sea, was the response of the FAMAS director when the bashing persisted even after apologizing for the unintended disrespect towards Eva Darren.

Flippant or not, there is some truth to it. Some people thrive on hating. No matter what you do, they will choose only to see the worst in you. The prime example would be the religious leaders during Jesus' time who lived to hate on the upstart bastard (Jn. 8:41) who loved having tax collectors and prostitutes over for supper (Mt. 9:11).

No amount of kindness, patience, and miracles including raising of the dead could dissuade them from hating on Him. They were the OG "haters gonna hate." They were losing the awe and admiration of thousands and thousands of people to Jesus. They were losing their chokehold on them. Jesus then must be stopped and stop Him they did but only for three days.

If you're a follower of Christ, you should expect people hating on you just because. That's a promise we seldom hear or would like to put beautiful flowers to make a sticker out of it. Haters are gonna hate because the world hated Jesus first. Jesus Himself said, "Kung ako nga, hate na hate nila, ikaw pa?" or something like that (Jn. 15:18-19).

So don't be distressed if you're being mocked, bullied, or ostracized because you follow the Truth, the Way, and the Life (2 Tim. 3:12). There is more to be concerned about if you who profess to love God but is loved by the world that hates God.
