GOVERNING TRUTH

“They must realize that in the eyes of the community, they are practicing an ancient belief which is no longer relevant in these times,” said the honorable governor in reference to what’s gone down in his turf between a church and a school who invited a commencement speaker whose lifestyle goes against the teachings of the church that owned the rented venue.

He continues, “It is 2022. We have progressed so far…it’s time that (they) reflect whether or not the beliefs they share are the beliefs that are relevant.”

As I am not privy to what went on between the two institutions, I will only speak on matters that I do know and it’s the Bible. I do not know what the the church involved believes as I have not been aware of its existence until the issue came out but in terms of homosexuality, it seems we share a common denominator in following what the Bible says about it.

If this had happened to my church wherein its beliefs I fully know and adhere to, I would defend it with the entire book of Leviticus that demands a full compliance of God’s standards. No ifs and buts. No wondering if it’s still relevant especially as God’s Word is always relevant because it is the Truth. More than that, He is the Truth. It has always been like that since Genesis 1 and it will stay that way for all eternity. Truth cannot be truth if it can be found hiccupping about its relevancy. By the way, gay people are not “unholy” because they are gay but because they are sinners as much as the next heterosexual who have not asked for forgiveness of their sins from God.

“(It) speaks volumes about their culture and about the type of tolerance that they do not have so the mere threat alone speaks very lowly of the church…(they) should examine themselves of what the reality of the world is today and where people really stand.”

Yes, it does speak volumes. It speaks to me that they know where they stand. I must disagree though about it speaking “very lowly of the church.” It speaks highly of the church in going against the tide. Will they remain standing given the bashing they have been receiving?

And yes, they “should examine themselves” in how they handled it. Maybe they shouldn’t have interrupted the ceremony unceremoniously and dramatically but there is no need for an examination of their teachings if they are true to the Word for as the Word says, “Let God be true and every man a liar” (Romans 3:4).
