GAMESTOPPING

Have you heard of gamestopping? It’s okay if you haven’t since it’s a newly-coined word from something that happened just recently.

Last January, the share prices of Gamestop rose by 500% even though it was expected to lose money for the next two years all because members of the “Reddit’s r/WallStreetBets board encouraged each other to buy the stock” just to show up Wall Street for saying that Gamestop was overvalued.

According to CNN, this short squeeze shows “how dangerous it is for investors to bet against stocks that have a significant cult following.”

It is mid-February now and we see something similar happening in the US Christian music industry where an openly gay artist’s work is the number one Christian album in iTunes after the artist uploaded it in the category as she considers herself a Christian.

The artist says she is excited about gamestopping Christian music after feeling discarded by the church who made her feel she doesn’t “deserve the same dignity as other people,” and now they are “speaking up for ourselves…You can’t ignore us anymore. We’re No. 1 right now.”

Gamestopping is nothing new in church. False teachings and encroachment have been around since the days of the apostles so we should have been prepared since the get-go. We need to be on the offensive with the sword of truth but without slicing those who are sincerely searching. Let us continue to preach the Truth in love that they may find the true dignity that we all lost in the Garden of Eden and regained at the cross. Let our words and works shine bright for the Lord that those who are mingling among us will stop the game and level up before it’s game over.
