Tag the Word!

AY SADYA!

I saw a clip of an interview with probably one of the most loved local gay celebrities. My heart went out to her especially as I saw her grow up entertaining the nation in the most wholesome of ways even to this day.

She talked about being the target of a homily on how homosexuality is a sin which extends to being married to the same sex.

The interviewer asked if the preacher was aware of her presence. She said she didn't know. And this is why I love her. She wasn't pavictim. She didn't rush to making it all about her. She was honest with her answers so she deserves honesty as well.

Whether sadya or not, it doesn't matter because sadya yan ng Holy Spirit. It was a Divine Love appointment that she and her wife were there to hear the Word, as painful as it was. It's a stab in the heart. But know what? That is what hearing the Word does.

Hebrews 4:12a describes Scriptures as "buhay at mabisa, mas matalas pa sa espada na matalim ang magkabilang sides. Tumatagos ito sa kaloob-looban, sa kaluluwa at espiritu, sa mga joints at mga buto." (Pinoy Version) Imagine being literally slain by a sword that sharp. To be hurt is an understatement. ICU ang bagsak natin.

Tinamaan ka? Beloved, every time we hear the Word, talagang tatamaan tayo. Talagang masasaktan tayo. Mahirap tanggapin because it means giving up personal desires and wants.

I may not be hurt when the topic is about homosexuality, but there are things that a straight person like me can also be hurt by the Word. If I find myself being convicted by something shared in a bible study, in my quiet time, or in a sermon, it is sadya. Sadya ni God na marinig ko. Gusto Niya tayong tamaan para maging tama tayo.

Please don't take it against the preacher for he was just doing his job but do take it personally because that's God's personal message to you. Every time His Word is preached, it is God's personal notification to you and me. He does this because He loves us.

You said you don't need an institution to play out your love for God but it is more enjoyable to be with like-minded people. That's why we join FB groups, clubs, and organizations that share our passion and interests. It's not fun to be a Lone Ranger. Even Lone Ranger had Tonto.

And you are most especially correct when you said it's about having a personal relationship with God but a relationship can only work when the two parties are in agreement. Unlike in a human relationship where compromise is to be expected, with God, it is His way and only His for He is the Way. He knows the Truth for He is Truth. He knows the path to life for He is Life. (John 14:6)

You said you're not sure if we're interpreting "certain Scriptures" right, or if that was the intent of the writers. I'm glad you asked and I have the answer. Read the Word and you will find it. More importantly, you will find Him. The Great Promise Keeper said, "I love those who love me; those who look for me (will) find me." (Pro. 8:17 The Message).
