Tag the Word!

2, 33, 51

Something occurred to me just now. I don't know why but it was like an epiphany. I am turning 51 this year---no, that's not the epiphany. I have been a Christian for 33 years now---the earthly lifetime of our Lord Jesus Christ. And, no, that's still not the epiphany. It's this---in all the years that I have been a follower, I have only been shared the gospel twice. What am I talking about?

We know how we should be sharing the gospel. God knows how often we hear that and rightly so but how often do we actually apply it ourselves and not leave it to pastors and church events to do it?

The first time someone shared the gospel with me was a few months after I became a Christian so I was 18 and it was from an acquaintance. The second time it happened was just last year when a stranger handed me a gospel tract at a bank. Again, in my 33 years a Christian, these are the only two incidents believers applied the first half of the Great Commission to me and there is a gap of 33 years! This might be anecdotal and definitely thoroughly unscientific, but if the church truly is carrying out the mandate, surely, I would have been "fending" off sharers left and right. How about you, my brother and sister in Christ? Has anybody shared the gospel with you? But the most important question is, have we been sharing the Good News especially during this time of terrible news?
